If your kids are interested in science or chemistry, then you'll want them to try this fun experiment.

I first tried this experiment years ago with the kiddos at the non profit I used to work at. We did a STEM summer camp every year and this was always a favorite!

It's so easy and you may already have everything at home to give it a try.

How does this experiment work?

The molecules in the dish soap are drawn to the fat molecules in the milk. When they bond together, they twist and roll causing the marbling in the milk.

The experiment is fairly quick, but you can make it last longer by discussing what happens when the dish soap and milk are combined, how different milks may produce different results (try skim, 1%, etc) and you can also try different liquids such as vinegar, soda pop, water or rubbing alcohol instead of dish soap.
